DANGEROUS GOODS TRAINING

Dangerous goods, also known as hazardous materials, are substances or articles that can pose risks to health, safety, property or the environment. These risks may occur during manufacturing, handling, transportation or storage. Proper knowledge of dangerous goods is important because workers involved in handling, storing or transporting these materials may face hazards such as fire, explosion, poisoning and exposure to harmful substances. Inadequate management can also affect the public and the environment through incidents such as chemical leaks, explosions and pollution.

The Dangerous Goods training provides awareness of the different classes of dangerous goods, their characteristics and associated hazards. It covers explosives, gases, flammable liquids, flammable solids, oxidising substances, toxic substances, radioactive materials, corrosive substances and miscellaneous dangerous goods. The training also introduces colour coding, the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS), helping participants understand the importance of safe handling, storage, transportation and emergency preparedness.

The aims and objectives of Dangerous Goods training are to:
