Fire Watcher

FIRE WATCHER TRAINING
A fire watcher is an individual assigned to keep watch on fire hazards in the area where hot work is going on and automatic fire alarming/warning and firefighting systems are not available or cannot be installed. Fire Watcher training is intended to teach individuals how to recognise and respond to potential fire threats in hot work environments. Workplace fires, no matter how big or small, represent a serious hazard to worker health and safety.

The participants will be well prepared to manage everything from keeping a fire watch to alerting the fire department and even utilising a fire extinguisher if necessary in case of a fire incident. Workplace fires caused by hot work activities are avoidable. One of the control strategies recommended to prevent workplace fires during and after hot work activities is the use of a properly trained fire watcher who is capable of not only recognizing the fire but also being competent enough to fight the fire using an appropriate fire extinguisher according to the class of fire.

IHSM offers training on how to minimise the chance of fire, and enables participants to respond swiftly and effectively in the event of a fire outbreak. We believe that safety should be the primary goal in making the workplace safer for everyone.

BENEFITS OF FIRE WATCHER
Fire is considered one of the hazardous events that results in severe injury, loss of life, and huge damage to the property of the organization or the community. The fire can break out at any time or anywhere. Hence, it is one of the mandatory requirements to appoint a trained and competent fire warden, fire marshal, or fire watcher to take appropriate actions to control the fire from spreading and turning into a deadly event. The appointed fire watcher will help keep the organization safe from fire emergencies by taking preventive measures and ensuring the safe evacuation of people from the organization in the event of a fire.
