BEHAVIOUR BASED SAFETY TRAINING
Good health and safety practice most of the time relies on the perfect behavior of individuals. Most safety professionals believe that the majority of accidents in the workplace are caused by the carelessness and unsafe behaviors of employers and employees. According to the HSE website, ‘up to 80% of accidents may be attributed, at least in part, to the actions or omissions of people. We all know that people are involved throughout the life cycle of an organisation, from design through to operation, maintenance, management, and demolition. Many accidents are blamed on the actions or omissions of a worker/person who was directly involved in operational or maintenance work’. Behavior-based safety is based on complete trust and cooperation between workers and leaders. It provides long-term solutions to eliminate hazards and risks. It also provides a life-saving approach to maintaining a safety culture in the workplace.
Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) Training can play an important part in reducing accidents and ill health by reducing unsafe behaviors and promoting safe behaviors in the workplace by the workforce. The main purpose of IHSM Behavior-Based Safety Training is to change workers’ mindsets so that they don’t engage in risky activity without proper protection.
